The Gray Squirrel

 

This month we are studying the Gray Squirrel, which is Kentucky’s state wild animal game species.

What The Gray Squirrel Looks Like

The gray squirrel has a gray bushy tail and it’s tail is also very flexible. It also has brownish, grayish fur, with a white stomach and brown eyes. The gray squirrel is about 1foot and 3 inches.

Where They Live

Gray Squirrels live in the southern eastern part of North America. Also in oak, chestnut, sycamore, and walnut trees. The Gray Squirrel is also symbols for North and South Carolina, and Kentucky.

Life and Death

10,000,000 gray squirrels are alive in the U.S.

2,000,000 are killed each year, because hunters want to eat them.
